גאה להציג את האלבום החדש שלי: ״קיסרי רומא״.
זהו אלבום אינסטרומנטלי כמעט כולו, המורכב משישה קטעים, אחד לכל קיסר מששת הקיסרים הראשונים.
יוליוס, אוגוסטוס, טיבריוס, קליגולה, קלודיוס ,נירון.
השישה האלו ידועים גם כשושלת הראשונה של הקיסרים, השושלת היוליו-קלאודיאנית, והם שלטו באימפריה הגדולה ביותר בעולם, במשך קצת יותר ממאה שנה. במשך שלטונם, חלו מאורעות אדירים, מלחמות אזרחים, מרידות, רציחות- והישגים אנושיים אדירים. אבל לגבי, הם בעיקר שישה סיפורים.
כל קטע מנסה להביע את התרשמותי מאחד מהם. גם כדמות היסטורית, אבל גם כסמל תרבותי, כטיפוס, כמיתוס.
אני קשור מאד להיסטוריה, ובעיקר זו של המאה הראשונה לספירה. אבל לא ניסיתי לספר היסטוריה במוזיקה. הקטעים באלבום עוסקים בבני אדם. ובעיקר ברגשות ובדימויים שעולים בי כשאני מהרהר בהם.

כל הקטעים חוברו, נוגנו והוקלטו על ידי, בין 2009 ל-2013.. בשלושה מהקטעים מנגנת אורית בן-עזר על חליל, ובקטע הסוגר את האלבום, שילבתי קטע שירה מפי השחקנית חנה רובינא.

את ההיסטוריה של רומא העתיקה למדתי לאהוב, כבן-עשרה וכרבים מבני דורי, דרך סדרת המופת ״אני קלודיוס״, וקריאה חוזרת ונשנית בספריו של רוברט גרייבס. אותן השנים גם עיצבו את אהבותיי המוזיקליות, המשפיעות עלי עד היום.

Emperors of Rome

I am proud to present my new album: “Empress of Rome '.
It's almost entirely an instrumental album, which comprises six sections, one for each of the first six emperors.

Julius, Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, Nero.

These six are also known as the first dynasty of emperors, the Julio-Claudian dynasty, and they ruled the largest empire the world for a little more than a century. During their reign, the world saw huge upheavals, civil wars, rebellions, and assassinations - but great human achievements. For me, they are mostly six stories.

Each track tries to express my impressions of these men, as historical figures, but also each as a cultural symbol, as a character, as a myth.

History is near and dear to my heart, and particularly that of the first century AD. Never the less, I was not trying to tell history in music. The album is about humans, and especially the feelings and images that occupy my mind when I think of them.

All the tracks were composed, played and recorded by me, between 2009 and 2013.
In three of the tracks, Orit Ben-Ezzer plays the flute, and the track that closes the album, I incorporated the voice of the actress Hannah Rovina.

I learned to love the history of ancient Rome, as a teenager, and as many of my generation, through the masterpiece series “I Claudius", followed by reading and rereading the works of Robert Graves. Those years also shaped the musical loves affecting me until today.
